Safeguarding

Draft for review, last updated 11 October 2026. This policy has not yet been approved by a lawyer and may change before launch.

Many of the people we teach are children. This policy sets out how we check our coaches, run sessions and act on concerns.

Before anyone coaches

  • Every coach shows government ID and a current police clearance certificate, which we check and record with its expiry date.
  • Coaches complete safeguarding training before working with children, and we take up two references.
  • A coach's profile shows only the checks we have verified ourselves. Coaches cannot change these.
  • We remind coaches before a certificate expires and stop scheduling them if it lapses.

In sessions

  • Children wear a helmet in every session, with knee, elbow and wrist protection for roller and skateboard classes.
  • Group sizes are capped for each class. Children under 9 have a parent or guardian on site unless the session is a school program.
  • Coaches do not message children directly or share personal contact details with them. Communication goes to parents, guardians or the school.
  • Photos of children are taken only with recorded photo consent from their parent or guardian.

Children's information

Children do not have accounts or public profiles. A parent or guardian adds them and gives consent. A coach sees a child's first name, age and any support notes only for sessions that child is booked into.

Raising a concern

If you are worried about a child's safety, tell the coach or session lead straight away, or contact our safeguarding lead. We record every concern, act on it the same day and involve the relevant authorities where the law requires it. If a child is in immediate danger, call the police first.

The safeguarding lead's name and phone number will be published here before launch.
