Size guide

Skates that fit well are easier to learn on. Measure, then use the tables.
  1. 1

    Measure your foot

Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, wearing the socks you will skate in. Mark the tip of your longest toe and measure from the wall in centimetres.

  2. 2

    Pick the size

Choose the size whose foot length matches or is slightly longer than yours. Between sizes, go up for children and down for adults who want a snug fit.

  3. 3

    Check the fit

Toes should just touch the front when standing and pull back slightly when you bend your knees. Your heel should not lift.

Not sure? Rent first.

Rental sizes can be swapped at pick-up if they do not fit. Once you know your size, buy a kit.

Children's skates

Adjustable kids' skates cover about four sizes, so they last a year or more of growing. K is kids' sizing and Y is youth.

Approximate. Brands vary by up to half a size, so foot length is the best guide.

Helmets

Measure around the head about 1 cm above the eyebrows.

  • S: 48 to 54 cm
  • M: 54 to 58 cm
  • L: 58 to 62 cm

It should sit level, two fingers above the eyebrows, and not move when you shake your head.

Pads and wrist guards

Pads come in Kids, Adult S/M and Adult L. They should stay put when you bend and not pinch behind the knee or elbow.

Coaches check every child's gear before the session starts.
